Televixy 4K IPTV: Ultra HD at any hour, and the screens that decode it
Which sport, films and documentaries come in 4K, which televisions and boxes can show them, and the TV settings that make a bright Ultra HD picture comfortable in a dark room at 05:00.
The last of a run of night shifts is over, it is 05:00, and you are home and wide awake with a day off ahead and a house that is still asleep. For a film in 4K it is a good hour: nothing else wants the television, and nobody minds if the credits roll at 07:30. This page covers what a Televixy subscription offers in 4K, which hardware can decode it, and how to set the TV up so a vivid Ultra HD picture suits a dark room.
What 4K is, and what comes in it
4K, also called Ultra HD, is a picture 3840 pixels wide and 2160 tall: four times as many pixels as a 1080p, or FHD, picture. On a big screen that shows as finer detail in grass, faces and on-screen text. In the line-up, 4K is a copy rather than a separate service. Where a channel or a title is offered in 4K, its FHD and HD copies sit right beside it, and you choose which one to open.
Films: 4K film channels, and a 4K section in the library of 120,000+ films and series, which plays whenever you press start.
Documentaries: nature and travel channels broadcasting in 4K.
Sport: Premier League matches in UHD on TNT Sports and Sky Sports, NFL games in 4K on CBS and FOX, national NHL and NBA games, the Champions League, Formula 1, and the grand slams and golf majors.
Fight nights: WWE premium events, UFC and boxing, shown in 4K as they happen.

Any of them: the 4K copies come with every plan
Most Sony, LG and Samsung 4K sets from 2019 or later decode 4K on their own; whether your model runs a suitable player app is covered in the setup guides. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select decodes 4K too, but it runs Vega OS and cannot sideload, so the Downloader steps apply only to Fire OS models such as the 4K Max. Fire TV Sticks that are not 4K models, and many budget Android boxes, stop at 1080p whatever the stream carries; on those, open the FHD copy.
A 4K film at 05:00: TV settings for a dark room
Ultra HD, and HDR above all, is made to look its best with plenty of light coming off the screen. In an unlit room before sunrise that can be a lot. None of the following involves us: they are settings on the television or the sound system, and the names differ from brand to brand.
Picture mode. Move from Standard or Vivid to Movie, Cinema or Filmmaker Mode where the set has it. These modes are usually dimmer and warmer, and nearer to how the film was graded.
Backlight. Lower the backlight, called OLED light or panel brightness on some sets, before you touch contrast.
Light sensor. If the TV has an ambient light sensor or an auto-brightness option, switch it on and the screen dims itself as the room gets darker. An eco or energy-saving mode dims it further, and can go off again once daylight is back.
Sound. In the sound menu of the TV or soundbar, look for a night mode, auto volume or volume levelling. It narrows the gap between whispered dialogue and an explosion, so you are not riding the remote all film.
Headphones and subtitles. Or leave the speakers off altogether: pair Bluetooth headphones with the TV or the streaming device, and turn on subtitles in the player when the title has them.
Sleep timer. Many televisions have one in their settings, for the film you may not see to the end.
The tabs count streams playing at the same moment, not installs: the app can sit on the bedroom TV, a phone and a laptop, and the tab decides how many of them stream together. Length and price are the only differences between the four cards, so the 25,000+ channels and 120,000+ films and series come with each. When a term ends, nothing is charged and the line simply stops until you buy another; you also have 7 days to ask for a refund. All figures in USD.
Picking 4K, FHD or HD for the screen in front of you
The 4K copy earns its place on a large television seen from across the room, roughly 55 inches and up, for sport and films. On a phone in bed, a tablet propped on the kitchen counter at 06:00 or a small set in a bedroom, the FHD or HD copy looks no different at that size and asks less of the connection. Since the copies are listed side by side, the choice is made per channel, each time you watch. For the decoder settings that help 4K play smoothly on a Fire TV device, see the Firestick guide.
Try a 4K title at whatever hour you are up
Every 4K copy is open during the 24-hour free trial, so your own screen can show you the difference before you pay.
A copy of that channel at a resolution of 3840 × 2160, which packs in four times the pixels of FHD (1080p). Channels that offer it list their 4K, FHD and HD copies next to each other, and you open whichever suits the screen in front of you.
Which devices can play the 4K copies?
The Formuler Z11 Pro Max, Nvidia Shield, Apple TV 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max are all 4K-capable, and so are most Sony, LG and Samsung 4K sets from 2019 or later. A Fire TV Stick that is not a 4K model, and many budget Android boxes, top out at 1080p.
Can I sideload a player onto the Fire TV Stick 4K Select?
No. It decodes 4K, but it runs Vega OS, which does not allow sideloading, so the Downloader route in our Firestick guide applies only to Fire OS models such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. If you are buying a stick with 4K in mind, that is the difference to check.
How do I keep a 4K film from lighting up the whole room at night?
Switch the TV to a Movie, Cinema or Filmmaker picture mode, lower the backlight, and turn on the ambient light sensor if the set has one. A night mode or auto volume in the sound settings evens out the loud scenes, and many televisions have a sleep timer for the film you might not finish.
Do I pay more for 4K?
No. Every plan, from one month to one year and from one connection to five, includes the 4K copies along with FHD and HD.
Is anything in the line-up in 8K?
No. The highest-resolution copies we carry are 4K.
