Televixy – IPTV on your own clock, from night shift to early start

MAG and Formuler boxes, set up for whatever hour you watch

A MAG or Formuler box is the nearest thing in this world to an old television tuner. You press power at 05:10 before an early start, or at 01:30 after a late finish, and it opens onto live channels with no app drawer to dig through. Neither box signs in the way a phone app does. A MAG is unlocked by its MAC address against a portal we switch on at our end; a Formuler can work the same way through MyTVOnline, and newer builds of that app also take an Xtream login. Below: the activation, then the parts that matter outside ordinary evening hours, namely the clock, the guide, catch-up, favorites and quiet playback.

Keep these within reach, whatever the hour

  • A MAG box from the 3xx, 4xx or 5xx series, or a Formuler such as the Z8, Z10 or Z11
  • The MAC address from the sticker underneath, or from the device information screen
  • A WhatsApp message to us with that MAC, so the portal can be opened for it
  • Optional: headphones your television, soundbar or Formuler can drive

Getting it ready for the hours you watch

  1. Photograph the MAC and send it

Turn the box over. The MAC is on the label as six pairs of characters, and on a MAG it begins 00:1A:79; the same value sits in the settings under device information. Send a photo of the label on WhatsApp rather than retyping it, because one swapped character activates a box that does not exist. Activation takes under 15 minutes and the desk works 24/7, so installing at two in the morning is no different from installing at noon.

    Pick a term, no contract

  2. Set the clock before anything else

Guide data travels with its own time offset and the box converts it into local time, so a wrong zone shifts every listing. On a MAG the time zone sits in the system settings; on a Formuler it is the ordinary Android date and time screen. Choose your own city and switch on network time where offered. Some portals also keep a time zone in their own settings page, so match that too.

  3. MAG: enter the portal address

The route is Settings, System settings, Servers, Portals. In the Portal 1 slot type a name, enter the address from our message character for character, save, and restart the box. Until the restart it keeps showing its old start screen, which looks like a failure and is not one.

  4. Formuler: add it in MyTVOnline

Open MyTVOnline 2 or 3, add a portal, and supply a name plus the portal address we sent. If your build offers an Xtream Codes connection type, that route works as well, using the server, username and password from the same message. Formuler boxes run Android underneath, so other Android players, TiviMate among them, can be added later if you want a second way in.

  5. Read the color keys off the screen

Both remotes carry red, green, yellow and blue keys, and their jobs change from screen to screen: on one a color key might sort the list, on the next it might mark a favorite or open the guide. The MAG portal prints a legend along the bottom showing what each color does right now, and MyTVOnline shows its hints on screen or in the options menu where your version has them. A minute spent reading them in daylight saves fumbling in a dark room later.

  6. Build a short list for the small hours

Mark the channels you actually reach for at 04:00: an overnight news channel, the sports channel carrying a race from another continent, a film channel that never pauses. On a MAG use whichever color key the legend names for favorites; in MyTVOnline it sits in the channel options. Twenty channels you chose beat scrolling through 25,000+ with the lights off.

  7. Find the guide and what already aired

Open the guide from the TV section of the portal or MyTVOnline. Channels that keep an archive let you step back to programs that have finished, usually with a mark beside them, and play them from the start. That is how the 21:00 bulletin you slept through, or a match that ended at 03:00 your time, comes back. Not every channel has an archive, and how far back it reaches depends on the channel.

  8. Keep the room quiet

We would not promise a sleep timer on either box, so lean on the television’s own, which most sets keep in their time or system settings. A MAG sends sound over HDMI, so headphones pair with the TV or soundbar rather than the box; a Formuler with Bluetooth can pair them in its Android settings. Subtitles and other audio tracks, where a channel carries them, appear in the playback options when you press the info or menu key during a program.

Sorting it out yourself at any hour

The screen says STB blocked, or stays black

Either the MAC is not active yet or it reached us with a typo. Send the label photo again and ask us to compare it with what was activated. Once it matches, restart the box; there is no need to re-enter the portal address.

Every listing sits an hour early or late

The box zone is wrong, or daylight saving moved and the box did not follow. Recheck the time zone in system settings, switch network time on and restart. If the portal has its own zone setting, set it to the same city.

The guide runs out after midnight

A box left running for days can keep serving an old block of guide data. Restart it, or refresh the guide from MyTVOnline’s settings, before a long night so the hours after 00:00 are filled. A single channel with a permanently empty row simply sends no listings; it still plays.

A finished program will not play from the archive

Check the channel actually has one: the mark is absent on channels that keep none. If the mark is there and playback still fails, the program may be older than that channel’s archive reaches, or the box clock is off and the request asks for the wrong hour. Fix the clock first.

Two boxes in the house, one plan

Each box playing at the same moment uses one connection, so a box in the lounge and another in a bedroom running together need a plan with two. A portal is tied to a MAC, so send us every MAC you want switched on.

Players that suit this screen

A login ready at whatever hour you get in

Message us on WhatsApp when your shift ends: activation takes under 15 minutes, a month starts at $15, and nothing renews unless you buy another term.

MAG and Formuler boxes, asked and answered

Is a MAG or Formuler better than a streaming stick for late viewing?

On a main television, the dedicated remote and the way it opens straight onto channels make it easy to use half awake: no home screen of adverts, no app to find. A box costs noticeably more than a stick, though, and a bedroom set is perfectly well served by a stick. What you can watch is identical either way.

Can I watch a match that finished at 03:00 without seeing the score?

If the channel that showed it keeps an archive, yes. Go to the guide, step back to the program and play it from the start. Avoid tuning to the live channel first, because the post-match program is likely to be on.

Do I need to send the MAC again if I change router?

No. The MAC belongs to the box, not to your connection, so it stays the same on any router or after a move. You only send a new one if you replace the box itself.

What happens on the day my term ends?

Nothing renews by itself, so the portal stops loading channels on the end date. Buy another term on WhatsApp and the same box is normally switched back on within minutes, with the portal address left exactly as it was.
