Televixy – IPTV on your own clock, from night shift to early start

Apple TV, iPhone and iPad setup for quiet viewing at any hour

Apple devices suit watching while someone else sleeps. AirPods signed in to your Apple ID usually show up on the Apple TV without separate pairing, an iPhone in bed needs nothing paired at all, and iOS has a timer that stops playback when it runs out. The limits come from the App Store. Apple allows no sideloading, TiviMate has no Apple version, and the free Smarters app is listed there as Smarters Player Lite. iPlayTV, a paid player made only for Apple devices, and GSE Smart IPTV are the other usual choices.

Keep these within reach, whatever the hour

  • An Apple TV (HD or 4K), iPhone or iPad running a current system version
  • An Apple ID for the App Store
  • Your Televixy login: server address, username and password
  • AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones, optional

Getting it ready for the hours you watch

  1. Pick one of three players

Smarters Player Lite is free and the simplest place to start. iPlayTV is a paid app that exists only on Apple devices. GSE Smart IPTV is the third common option. Apps with names close to TiviMate are not TiviMate, which has no Apple version, so skip them. All three accept the same Televixy login, so changing your mind later costs only the time it takes to type it again.

    Pick a term, no contract

  2. Install from the App Store

The App Store icon sits on the Apple TV home screen; on an iPhone or iPad it is the familiar blue one. Search for the player by name and install it. On the Apple TV, when a text field appears, an iPhone signed in to the same Apple ID usually offers its own keyboard as a notification, which is far quicker than picking letters with the remote.

  3. Enter the login

In the player, pick the Xtream Codes option and fill in the server address, username and password. On an iPhone, long-press each value in the WhatsApp chat, copy it and paste it into the matching field, which avoids typing mistakes in the server address. The channel list and listings then download; the first time takes a minute or two.

  4. Send the Apple TV’s sound to AirPods

Press and hold the TV button on the remote to open Control Center, select the audio output icon and choose your AirPods; if they are signed in to the same Apple ID, they are usually listed already. Other Bluetooth headphones pair under Settings, Remotes and Devices, Bluetooth, after you put them into pairing mode. Once the headphones are selected, the television speakers go quiet.

  5. On an iPhone in bed, set a timer that stops playback

Open the Clock app, choose Timers, set a duration, then tap When Timer Ends and pick Stop Playing at the bottom of the list. Start the timer, then the channel or film. When the time runs out, playback stops. On the Apple TV, Settings, General, Sleep After puts the box to sleep after a period without use; a playing stream may keep it awake, so for a timed stop there, use the player’s sleep timer if your player offers it, or the television’s own sleep timer.

  6. Turn on subtitles and set their style

On Apple TV, caption style is under Settings, Accessibility, Subtitles and Captioning; on iPhone and iPad the path is the same, Settings, Accessibility, Subtitles and Captioning. There you can make the text larger, which helps on a small screen held at arm’s length. Whether a film or series has subtitles depends on the stream; choose the track in the player’s playback controls when one is listed.

  7. Dim the iPhone below its lowest brightness

For a dark bedroom, Settings, Accessibility, Display and Text Size, Reduce White Point lowers the brightness of everything further than the slider goes. Dark Mode turns the player’s menus dark too, where the app follows it. On the Apple TV, picture brightness belongs to the television, so choose a darker picture mode there; names vary by brand, so check your model’s settings.

  8. Keep notifications from lighting the screen

A message banner at 03:00 is brighter than the film and louder than the dialogue. On an iPhone or iPad, open Control Center, choose Focus and switch on Do Not Disturb before you press play; calls and alerts wait until you turn it off. Doing it at the same moment you start the Clock timer makes it a single habit rather than two things to remember.

  9. Find catch-up and the guide in your player

Players handle catch-up differently. Look in the player’s menus for a catch-up or archive section, or for a past program in the guide; if your player offers it, channels that carry catch-up can be replayed after broadcast. That is how someone up at 06:00 finds the match that ended at 01:00. Learn the route once while you are alert, and it is a press or two away at any hour.

  10. AirPlay from the phone if the television has no app

From an iPhone or iPad, a channel can go to an Apple TV or an AirPlay-capable television in the same home, using the player’s AirPlay button if it has one, or Screen Mirroring in Control Center. It is a reasonable route for a set you would rather not install anything on. The sound then plays on the television, so for quiet viewing pair the headphones there, or watch on the phone itself.

Sorting it out yourself at any hour

The channel list loads but a channel will not play

Some streams need a different playback engine. Look in the player’s settings for a player or decoder choice, if it offers one, and switch it. If the channel comes in more than one quality, try another version of it before assuming a fault.

The AirPods connect to the iPhone instead of the Apple TV

Open Control Center on the Apple TV by holding the TV button, choose the audio output icon and pick the AirPods there; they move across. If they are not listed, pair them under Settings, Remotes and Devices, Bluetooth.

IPTV Smarters Pro is nowhere in the App Store

On Apple devices the free Smarters app is listed as Smarters Player Lite. Search for that name instead; it takes the same Xtream login.

Subtitles are too small to read from the bed

On the Apple TV, open Settings, Accessibility, Subtitles and Captioning, then Style, and choose Large Text, or build your own style with a bigger font. Players that draw their own subtitles may keep a size setting in their own options instead; look there if the system style makes no difference.

The Clock timer stopped a film instead of ringing

The Stop Playing choice stays selected for the next timer. If you use the same timer for other things during the day, set When Timer Ends back to a sound first.

Apple TV and iPhone, asked and answered

Is TiviMate available on Apple TV or iPhone?

No. TiviMate runs only on Android-based devices. On Apple, use Smarters Player Lite, iPlayTV or GSE Smart IPTV, and ignore look-alike names in the App Store.

Can I watch in bed on an iPhone without disturbing anyone?

Yes: headphones, Reduce White Point for a dimmer screen, and a Clock timer set to Stop Playing so it ends on its own. Subtitles help if you keep the volume low.

Do I have to pay for a player on Apple devices?

No. Smarters Player Lite is free. iPlayTV is paid and only for Apple devices, and some people prefer its layout, but it is optional.

Can the Apple TV and the iPhone play at the same time?

Yes, as long as your plan covers two connections or more. Plans cover one, two, three or five screens at once; installing on more devices than that is fine, as long as no more than your number play together.

Does the Stop Playing timer work with IPTV players?

It stops the media playing on the iPhone or iPad when the timer ends, which covers players that use the system’s normal playback. Try it once with a two-minute timer to see how your player behaves before you rely on it in the dark.

What about a Mac?

A Mac can use VLC with the M3U link, the web player in a browser, or a desktop Smarters app; the Windows PC and Mac guide covers each route, including headphones and a timed stop.
